EINAR SOLBERG – Frontmann der Norwegischen Progressive-Metal Band Leprous – freut sich die Veröffentlichung seines Debütalbums “16” als Solokünstler für den 02. Juni 2023 anzukündigen. Vielseitig, aber dennoch geistig verwurzelt in Einar’s eigenen musikalischen Welt, ist “16” ein Album, randvoll mit Überraschungen und unerwarteten Wendungen und beinhaltet eine Vielzahl intimer und zugleich extravaganter Kollaborationen.

Einar kommentiert: “‘16’ is a very diverse album, and “A Beautiful Life” is probably the most accessible song of the entire record! On most songs I’ve collaborated with other composers, but this is one out of four solo songs.”

Einar Solberg ist für die sanfte Ehrlichkeit seiner Texte ebenso bekannt wie für die exzentrische Erhabenheit der Musik von Leprous. Aber selbst für seine Standards ist „16“ ein äußerst emotionales und dynamisches Werk. Einar beschreibt das Album als „einem Konzeptalbum so nah, wie nie zuvor“ und erklärt, dass die neuen Songs von einer sehr spezifischen und transformativen Phase im Leben des Musikers handeln. Das ist der Klang eines rastlosen Geistes in seinem absoluten Element.
“It’s called 16 because that’s when the first really, really bad things started happening to me in life. From 16 to 19, there were a lot of very life-defining moments that happened to me, and that changed me,” he says. “That’s when I kind of lost my innocence and I started realising that life is serious and bad shit can happen. A lot of pretty drastic things happened within those three years. But this album is not only about the bad things. It’s also about some of the career-defining moments, like the moment I started playing with the band and began to find a community to belong to. Emotionally, I’m a bit of everything, so it covers the entire emotional spectrum!”
Auf “16” finden sich Kollaborationen mit sämtlichen Vertretern des zeitgenössischen Modern-Prog, wie Bent Knee’s Ben Levin und Agent Fresco’s Toti Gudnason, bis hin zu dem experimentellen Cellisten (und Leprous Livemusiker) Raphael Weinroth-Browne und Magnus Børmark, bekannt als Mitglied der Norwegischen Alt-Folk Gruppe Gåte. Einar arbeitet ebenfalls erneut zusammen mit Ihsahn und Star Of Ash und vielen weiteren. Das Album wurde gemischt von Adam Noble (Placebo, Biffy Clyro, Nothing But Thieves) und gemastert von Robin Schmidt (The 1975, Placebo, The Gaslight Anthem, etc.).
